My family recently spent a couple of days in Berlin, Ohio. This little town is one of my favorite places to visit. We enjoyed our stay amid the beautiful scenery while listening for the clip-clop of horse drawn buggies. I felt myself unwinding as soon as we arrived. It felt so Gut - "Good"
We always stay at the Berlin Grande Hotel. Here you will find a welcoming staff & immaculate rooms ... a gem in the heart of Amish country. http://www.berlingrandehotel.com/
There are more Berlin shops than you can possibly cover in one days time. We really enjoyed the Holmes County Flea Market. http://holmesfleamarket.com/
Another must visit is Heini's Cheese House.
They offer free samples of more cheese varieties than I could imagine.
The grandkids favorite was chocolate. You can also watch cheese being made.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Boyd & Wurthmann. This restaurant is touted as "Where the locals eat." Yum! The potato salad was the best I've ever had. Everyone had dessert ... Amish baking at its finest. http://www.boydandwurthmann.com/
I also recommend The Farmstead Restaurant ... and this Hillbilly knows food fer sure! They offer a daily hot buffet & offer family style meals. https://www.facebook.com/#!/BerlinFarmsteadRestaurant?fref=ts
Our favorite attraction was not open for the season yet. We'll be back soon to enjoy the Rolling Ridge Animal Park. http://www.visitrollingridge.com/
Every time my family visits Berlin, we discuss what it would be like to be Amish. There is an appeal to the simple life I think we all feel. There are days when I’m all for separating myself from the rest of society. The big question: would I enjoy it? The grass is always greener.
